welding table

I wanted to make a fabrication table for my various projects and I found this nice flat plate of steel off of craigslist for, well, a steal. I took a lot of inspiration from The Metalist on YouTube. He built a beautiful table (video below) and I borrowed liberally from his ideas on both this table and the shop stool I built subsequently. It has some pretty awesome features:

  • spinning casters that can be leveled and retracted into the feet

  • extensions for dealing with long pieces of metal

  • sockets with setting bolts for adding additional tools

  • a shelf for gas bottles and welder

  • safe tubes to stick the MIG gun when not in use

  • 4” evenly spaced grid of threaded 5/8” holes for clamping materials into place while welding

  • hooks for gloves and the like

  • a swing out drawer for holding clamps and bolts
