capitalism has everyone reaching for the bottom. make it cheaper – who cares if it’s garbage? inflate your reviews. got an idea for some stupid crap that can be made in slave labor conditions overseas and sold by the millions only to be used for a year/month/day/moment before finding its way to a landfill or into the ocean? hey, those are just externalities.

i make it a game to try and get more out of the objects in my life. not throwing away what can be fixed or improved is deeply satisfying. even better is making it yourself so it actually lasts. hey, if you know how (or even if you don’t), share the knowledge (or the folly). maybe someone can get something out of it. or maybe this is just a monument to the ego of the maker.
