magnetic arms
Ten thousand years from now when humanity has evolved past really stupid stuff like capitalism and identification with thought, we’ll probably have mastered medical science at a level that makes the addition of a couple extra arms a snap. Sadly, Fully Automated Gay Luxury Space Communism has not yet arrived and these magnetic arms will have to do.
Each arm consists of about 18 inches of 3/4” Loc-Line with a very strong magnet epoxied into a custom 3D printed end piece. Armature wire runs the length of the arm to add stiffness. They’re intended to hold mediumish-sized objects in place on the fabrication table. I variously use them for task lights, magnifying lenses, and this solder fume extractor I made from an old computer fan and some carbon filter material.
