grinder stand
Maybe file this under “don’t try this at home”. At some point, I’m planning to build a belt grinder like this one. Until then, I made this little base to make it easier to shape parts. Hand-held grinders like this are profoundly dangerous without lots of precautions. Their wheels spin at thousands of RPMs - they can throw parts across the shop and remove flesh even faster than they remove metal. If their wheels break, they are flung out with astonishing force, ready to embed themselves in anything in their path. Sufficiently forewarned? OK.
This thing is mounted in a vice and hold the tool firmly in place using the existing threads designed for the handle. The work surface is adjustable to accommodate different wheels. It’s ugly as hell but it works.
