Another walk along the trails of the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Refuge. I had the dog with me - wildlife photography and dog walking aren’t exactly complementary activities but I still managed to get a couple of nice shots. I had no idea I got the Great Egret in flight until I was processing and was delighted to see it.

  • Great Egret (Ardea alba)

  • American Avocet (Recurvirostra americana) - The pale coloration on the head indicates immature or nonbreeding individuals

  • Anna’s Hummingbird (Calypte anna)
