knives

They’re elemental. Unless I’m in an airport, I probably have a knife on me. They’re in constant use from cutting food to boxes to grooming to whatever else. It’s the beginning of many things and I feel pretty naked without one. Here’s a few of my favorites.

The Boker Urban Trapper is a “gentleman’s folder”. It’s got a titanium frame with a frame lock and a bearing in the axis that allows it to snap out elegantly with a quick flip of the index finger. It’s slim and light and doesn’t stick out of a pair of dress pants.

The CRKT Squid XM isn’t winning any beauty contests but has assisted opening which flings the blade out with a satisfying snap. It’s nice and beefy and, like a lot of CRKT knives, the quality is amazing for the price point. Frame lock. I carry this almost every day. It’s also got a sub-three-inch blade which is short enough to carry in most urban environments without running afoul of the law and it’s not so expensive you’ll cry if it gets lost - a nice quality in an every day knife.

The Benchmade Griptilian is legendary. The Axis locking system is so elegant. This one is orange for high visibility and serrated in case of needing to cut rope or material. This is my field knife.

The Benchmade Crooked River is simply beautiful. I honestly can’t think of a more beautiful knife. This was gifted to me by a dear friend after he heard me admiring it. It’s very large and I would definitely cry if I lost it so it doesn’t see as much action as some of my other knives but I love it all the same.
